In 2.5 Minute Ride--winner of the Obie Award, The New York Press Award, and the L.A. Dramalogue Award— Lisa Kron invites her audience on a roller coaster ride through the Kron family album. Kron's performance switches back and forth between a journey to Auschwitz with her septuagenarian father, a Holocaust survivor; her Michigan family's annual pilgrimage to a Sandusky, Ohio amusement park; and her brother's marriage to his Internet bride. By moving seamlessly between these three diverse events, Kron creates a complex meditation on how human beings make sense of tragedy, grief, and everyday life— demonstrating with disarming simplicity that humor and horror can share the same human moment. This recording also features original music by Dan Fleet.
Lisa Kron is an actress, playwright, and founding member of The Five Lesbian Brothers theatre company whose works include Well and In the Wake. Kron won two Tonys for the musical Fun Home.
